We are a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, tax-exempt organization established in 2005 to protect a 52 acre mountain historic farm and to inspire by example the preservation of mountain farmsteads, landscapes and lifestyes through conservation, education, advocacy and research. Our long range goal is to establish a living history farm and cultural and outdoor activities that promote the conservation and appreciation of landscapes and lifeways of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Our primary emphasis has been on preserving this mountain farm, and cleaning up the abuse and neglect that had occurred over the past 50 years under out of state absentee owners . We have added adjoining parcels that were historically a part of the original Farmstead, and assisted neighbors in placing their own mountain acreage under perpetual conservation easements. We are now poised to build on these successes to maximize our potential as a living, learning and teaching preserve and farmstead.
